For some, seeing Anhingas nesting is probably not a daily occurrence and for most, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Most nests are found secluded and not easily approachable. In Florida, even if you know where one is located, our biting insects will make sure you pay the price of admission.

The lucky residents of St Johns County Florida are truly privileged. Located behind the Ponte Vedra Beach Library, is Bird Island Park which hosts a rookery where Anhingas nest. Yesterday I decided to visit, something I had not done in a while. I knew from my last visit that some Anhingas were preparing to nest. I was very pleased to see the abundance of nests and Juvenile Anhingas present in the Rookery.
